Through long and arduous hours, they are the ones who are on the front lines of patient care. One cannot put a monetary figure on what this staff does day-in, and day-out. Having stayed overnight in the hospital, living the experience with my mom, my sister Sandra and I were in awe of the personal care these, at first, “strangers” provided. In time (our mom was hospitalized six times) these “strangers,” became “friends,” providing the first class care and concern for her comfort one would expect from a family member. In time, that is what they became to my sister and me, a family. By taking us by the hand, and guiding us through this difficult time, we truly got to see the hospital in action, witnessing the daily operations for their strengths, and yes, their foibles, of which I will relay my concerns on this website/blog.

 

If a loved one finds themselves in the hospital, you have a duty to that person to befriend the nurses and technical staff. They are the ones who will be there for you. Develop a relationship with them, show them your appreciation. Relay your concerns to them. They will help you as best as they can. Our family expresses our deep gratitude and appreciation to all the Staff of 5 North.  They set the gold standard for nurses and technicians everywhere; they are true team players!!   Bravo to Kachi, Jackie, Patricia, Markeeta, Shannon, Melissa, Glynnis, Phyllis, Giselle  and all the countless others – who we will never forget.
